Chromebook Class of 2025: Acer Unveils New Student-Friendly Laptops

Acer just unveiled a fresh batch of Chromebooks designed with K-12 students in mind. These aren't your average laptops; they're built to withstand the rigors of classroom life while offering features that enhance learning. Let's take a look!

Rugged Chromebooks for Rugged Classrooms

Acer's new lineup includes the Chromebook Spin 512 (R857T), Chromebook Spin 511 (R757T), and the Chromebook 511 (C737). All three are powered by Intel N250 processors, focusing on durability and features tailored for education.

Spinning into Action: Versatile 2-in-1s

The Chromebook Spin 512 sports a 12.2-inch WUXGA display with a taller 16:10 aspect ratio, great for reading and productivity. The Spin 511 offers an 11.6-inch display in either FHD or HD. Both models feature 360-degree hinges, transforming them into tablets for note-taking and interactive learning. They're also built to military-grade MIL-STD 810H standards, meaning they can handle drops and bumps. Plus, antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass keeps germs at bay, and an optional USI 2.0 stylus adds another layer of versatility. Up to 10 hours of battery life and TÜV Rheinland Eyesafe certification (for the Spin 512) are icing on the cake.

The Classic Clamshell: Simple and Sturdy

The Chromebook 511 is a traditional clamshell laptop, perfect for younger students and 1:1 deployments. Its 11.6-inch display comes in HD and FHD options. It's lightweight and portable, with shock-absorbent bumpers, a spill-resistant keyboard with anchored keys, and—you guessed it—MIL-STD 810H durability.

Built to Last: Inside and Out

Acer has gone the extra mile to make these Chromebooks super durable. Reinforced LCD panels, strengthened I/O ports, easily serviceable keyboards (just two screws!), spill resistance up to 330 ml of liquid, and rubber bumpers for drop protection (up to 122 cm) are all part of the package. Even the USB Type-C ports are modular for easier repairs.

Stay Connected: Wi-Fi and More

Connectivity is key in today's classrooms, so these Chromebooks offer Wi-Fi 7 or Wi-Fi 6E for fast and reliable internet. Optional 4G LTE is available for areas with limited Wi-Fi. A 1080p webcam with noise reduction and HDMI and dual USB Type-C ports round out the connectivity options.

Pricing and Availability

These educational Chromebooks will hit North America in Q1 2025. The Chromebook Spin 512 starts at $529.99, the Spin 511 at $499.99, and the Chromebook 511 at $429.99.
